The saga of Jason Becker and Seymour Duncan spans decades when in the late80s Jason approached us with a new humbucker design. It was to have a slightly hotter-than-vintage wind of 12K coupled with an Alnico 5 magnet to capture the perfect balance of output, warmth, and note to note clarity that all shredders dreams of. Years later, the opportunity came for us to make Jasons vision a reality. The Perpetual Burn is made for endless tapping, wide bends, complex chords and intricate single note passages. This Trembucker version is spaced for whammy bridges so down- to- the-springs dive-bombs and screaming pull ups are no problem. And while Jasons signature pickup is the consummate shred machine, its medium output and voicing makes it perfect for other demanding styles from progressive rock to fusion.Hand made in Santa Barbara, CA, the Perpetual Burn comes with 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.
Designed in the early 70s, the JB Model humbucker is our most popular pickup of all time. It adds juice and versatility to the bridge position of any humbucker equipped guitar. With its hot coils, and alnico 5 bar magnet, this pickup delivers an unmistakable upper midrange attack, a tight, articulate low end, and harmonically rich highs that can really sing. The JB is the perfect bridge pickup for anything from blues & country to the meanest hard rock & metal. Pair with the Jazz neck model for the ultimate Hot Rodded humbucker set.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the JB Model uses an alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
The 59 bridge model is great for all types of rock and blues. We designed these vintage style coils to give it an airy quality that keep this pickup planted firmly in the PAF family. The alnico 5 bar magnet, and vacuum wax potting have been added to compensate for lighter guitar strings and louder amplifiers than were ever used in the 50s. The result is a pickup with tons of old-school tonal character, but with a brighter top end, and a more compressed sound. Pair with the 59 neck model for an evenly balanced output and tone.In addition to the alnico 5 magnet and wax potting, we hand build the 59 Model with a variety of traditional vintage treatments, such as 42AWG plain enamel mag wire, long legged nickel silver bottom plate, modern 4 conductor braided push back lead wire, and no logo. As with all of our PAF style pickups, the 59 Model is wound on Seymours old Leesona winder from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI.
